IELTS Speaking One-to-One: Boost

Strengthen your skills for IELTS Speaking success!

The problem?

Perhaps you’re facing the IELTS exam for the first time and you’re concerned about your performance in the Speaking paper.

Or you’ve taken the exam before and didn’t quite achieve the advanced grade you need.

You’re not sure which areas of English you need to work on to make progress. It could be that

  • your pronunciation let’s you down
  • you find it difficult speaking fluently
  • you have ‘fossilised’ language mistakes that you just don’t seem to be able to fix
  • you have problems dealing with unknown vocabulary
  • you lack the strategies needed for speaking at length, especially in the Part 2 long turn

  • you're looking for help from someone who you have faith in and who can point you in the right direction as quickly and as effectively as possible.

If you’re already studying IELTS in a class you’ll know it’s very difficult for your teacher to give you the personalised help you need - your teacher has many other students to support.

Perhaps you don’t have any qualified, experienced private tutors in your area that you trust to help you.

The solution

‘IELTS Speaking One-to-One: Boost’ offers you the chance to work with me Peter, over the course of three Skype lessons to receive support aimed specifically at your needs. You'll be able to learn the areas you need to work on, and have the chance to develop these areas over the course of these Skype interviews.

  • You’ll be given the opportunity to record yourself BEFORE the interview answering some introductory questions. I'll use this '3-minute intro' to identify your strengths and weaknesses before we meet in Skype.
  • Before each meeting you’ll download our preparatory lesson. Each of our IELTS Speaking One-to-One lessons include a downloadable unit of work consisting of language activities and useful strategies to help you in the exam. The lesson will also contain your IELTS Speaking test question and an audio file with me offering you a model answer to the Part 2 task. The lesson is designed to build your confidence for when we meet me in Skype.
  • ‘IELTS Speaking One-to-One: Boost’ will give you three, 50 minute Skype meetings with me. During the first meeting I’ll give you feedback on your recording. In each meeting I'll carry out a full IELTS Speaking test with you and offer final end-of-lesson feedback on areas to work on before our next meeting.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the course start and finish?
The course starts from the date you make your order. You have 6 months from the date of your order to take part in the three Skype interviews. Once this time has passed we may no longer be able to offer you any interviews and no refund will be provided.
How good should my English be to sign up for your course?
IELTS Speaking: Snapshot is aimed at students at upper-intermediate to advanced level - those aiming for IELTS 7.00 or above. The materials you will work through are aimed at this level of English proficiency.
What do I need to take part in the interview?
You'll need to have access to a workstation with a good internet connection and a Skype account. You will have the best experience during the interview if you use headphones and a mic rather than relying purely on the audio system on your computer.
Do I have to complete the worksheets and exercises before the interview?
If you want to get the most from your time with me I strongly recommend completing the exercises before we meet. These will give you the opportunity to prepare for the topic we'll be focusing on and offer tips and strategies for performing at your best during the interview.
What if I can't make the interview we have arranged?
I quite understand that things can happen at the last minute. However, I arrange my own timetable on the basis of the interviews I have organised. I therefore ask for 24 hours notice if you need to rearrange your interview. Without this I cannot guarantee I'll be able to find you a slot and may be unable to offer a refund.
What if something goes wrong with the technology before or during the interview?
Sometimes things go wrong, especially when you don't want them to! I want to make sure you feel you have received the service you paid for. If, for example, either you or I suffer from a poor or non-existent internet connection at the time of the interview, we are happy to rearrange a new time. However, please make sure that in general, you have access to a strong connection suitable for Skype calls and a workstation that is reliable.
What if I already have an 'IELTS Speaking Advanced' account?
We offer a free 3-month account to 'IELTS Speaking Advanced' with 'IELTS Speaking One-to-One: Boost'. If you already have an account for 'IELTS Speaking Advanced', I will add 3 months to your existing account for free.
